BIO-RETENTION

Decker Homes Deer Valley Development is first in the N.W. Ohio
area to incorporate a Bioretention area in subdivision development.

A bioretention area has been created in the cul-de-sac area of Plat three of Deer Valley. The purpose of a bioretention area is to manage and clean storm water that drains from the roadway and nearby lots. The area has been planted with a variety of native plant species that require little maintenance and contribute to improving water quality and storm water run off. Decker Homes worked with Jeff Grabarkiewicz with Lucas County Soil and Water and Brian Retar, P.E. with engineering firm, Farnham, Wirries & Berning to design the Bioretention area. Tom Schoen, owner of Vintage Gardens in Maumee, Ohio also assisted in the design and provided the native landscaping.
