A
NORTHWEST OHIO GREEN FIRST!
Completed in October 2008, our newest
high performance low energy home,” was designed to reduce electric
consumption, heating, cooling and hot water cost by 70%
percent.
The 2100 sq. ft. three bedroom ranch
style home incorporates both solar electric photovoltaic (PV) and geothermal
renewable energy systems. The home achieved a 29
HERS (Home Energy Rating Service) rating which is 70%
more efficient than current Ohio building codes, making it one of the
most energy efficient homes built in Northwest Ohio.
The home’s estimated energy cost is expected to be $55.00
dollars a month and demonstrate the cost effective benefits
of owning an energy efficient home with modern renewable energy systems.
Operating
costs estimated to average $55.00/month

|
| The
4.2 Kilowatt solar electric system, (PV) on the roof converts sunlight
into electricity, producing about 70% of the power the house consumes,
while the geothermal heating/cooling system transfers heat from
the ground in the winter and removes heat from the house in the
summer, reducing heating and cooling costs by approximately 35%
percent. Additional energy saving Green features include LED recessed
lighting, high efficient Energy Star certified appliances, a tight
building envelope, engineered wood I Joist system and a fully insulated
basement. |

At Decker Homes, we are
proud to be a 100% Energy Star builder and this beautiful home in Deer
Valley is a great example what we stand for as a home builder. We continue
to be on the forefront of new technology in the field of building green
homes that are good for both the environment and the homeowner.
For the homeowner, building
a dream house was synonymous with building an energy efficient high
performance home. She turned to Decker Homes, a builder with a longstanding
reputation for building high quality, energy efficient homes, to build
her new home on a lot with a dramatic waterscape view in a Decker Homes
100% Energy Star development, just outside of Maumee, Ohio.
The homes southeast orientation provided the proper setting for the Sharp 4.2
kilowatt photovoltaic array on the roof, and the large low E, argon filled
windows provide maximum passive solar gain, while allowing sunlight to enter
the interior space in winter.
By
integrating energy efficiency, solar electric (PV) and geothermal
technologies into this high performance low energy home, Decker
Homes demonstrates how homes can be built to accommodate both life
style, and operating costs.
